Vastu Shastra is a traditional Indian system of architecture that many buyers consider when choosing a home. Whether or not you follow it, it affects resale demand, so it is worth understanding the basics.
Facing
"Facing" is the direction you look when standing at the main door looking out. East and north-facing plots and flats are the most sought after; south-facing is often discounted, though many Vastu practitioners consider south-west entrances acceptable for certain layouts.
Room placement
- Kitchen: south-east ideally; north-west acceptable.
- Master bedroom: south-west.
- Pooja room: north-east.
- Toilets: away from the north-east corner.
Plots
Square or rectangular plots are preferred over irregular shapes; a slope towards the north or east is considered auspicious. Roads on the north or east side are preferred.
Our listings record both the property facing and the main-door facing, and you can filter search results by facing.
